Hi, I'm John van der Molen, owner of Van der Molen IT. Since 2006 I've been helping teams find problems in their software before their users do — through critical, exploratory testing and test automation that genuinely supports the testing work.
I've been working in software testing since 2006. In 2024 I followed my passion and started working as a freelance tester under the name Van der Molen IT.
To me, testing is more than ticking off test cases. It means investigating, asking questions and experimenting to uncover information about the risks and problems that matter. I have extensive experience in both exploratory testing and building automated tests — and I know that automation supports testing, but doesn't replace it.
